Our Story

In 1962 Cynthia's grandparents Stan and Bessie Marsolek bought 40 acres for $10,000. It included a home, farm equipment, fruit orchards and a fruit cellar. "The farm equipment was worth more than the land" Stan said, "...in those days you couldn't hardly give the land away". Over the next 22 years Stan, Bessie, and their six children tended the orchards, raised cattle and mink for pelts, they maintained a garden and cut hay from the fields around the property.
In 1984 the land was divided into the Marsolek Estates. Cynthia's parents, Pam and Jess Dawson bought 2.5 acres where they lived and raised their family.
In 2019 Cynthia and Brent bought the house from her parents. Cynthia had talked about owning it since she was a little girl. They got straight to work building their dream. They started with chickens, then went to ducks, turkeys, pigs and cows, all the while raising their three children.
In between the animals and children they also worked on their garden. Each year expanding it a little bit more, trying new things and ways of getting the most of it as possible.
Their hope is to be as sustainable as possible, while also being able to give back to the community.
